Mechack Elie (8pro)Web3 Developer & Builder | Cardano & Midnight | Building tools and resources to make blockchain development easier
I’m a Web3 developer and builder focused on making blockchain technology easier to understand and build with. I work mainly across the Cardano and Midnight ecosystems, where I explore developer tooling, open-source projects, privacy, and education. Through Eightblock, I’m building a space where developers can learn from practical experiences and share knowledge with others.

01/Why I built Eightblock
My journey into Web3 started from software development and a curiosity about how blockchain technology could solve problems beyond simply moving tokens around. As I learned more, I became particularly interested in how developers actually build on these networks and I noticed that getting started can often be harder than it needs to be.
Coming from a Francophone African background, I also saw a gap in accessible technical content for developers who wanted to explore blockchain but didn't always have the resources, documentation, or communities available in English-speaking ecosystems. That pushed me toward not only building software, but also writing, explaining, and sharing what I learn along the way.
My work has increasingly focused on the Cardano ecosystem. I've contributed to open-source initiatives, participated in the Intersect Developer Experience Working Group, explored developer tooling, and spent time understanding how Cardano's architecture can be made more accessible to developers. I’m also involved in the Midnight ecosystem, where my interest has grown around privacy-preserving applications and making the developer experience easier for people coming from traditional Web2 development.
Eightblock came from this same idea. I wanted to create a place where developers could find practical blockchain knowledge without everything feeling overly complicated or theoretical. It is an open-source publishing platform focused on blockchain education, where I can document what I'm learning and create resources that other developers can actually use.
Building Eightblock is also a learning process for me. I'm not trying to present myself as someone who knows everything about blockchain. I learn by building, experimenting, reading documentation, contributing to projects, and sometimes getting things wrong and figuring out why. I think that process is valuable to share because other developers are often going through the same thing.
What I hope readers take away from Eightblock is simple: blockchain development doesn't have to feel inaccessible. You don't need to understand everything before you start. Start with a real problem, build something, ask questions, read the documentation, contribute, and keep learning.
I also hope Eightblock can contribute to a stronger developer community in Africa and beyond, especially for people who may not have easy access to the same resources or opportunities. If something I build or write helps another developer understand a concept, solve a problem, or take their first step into Web3, then the work is already worthwhile.
Built, then written
Every post comes from hands-on work on live networks and testnets. These are the notes I wish I had when I started.
Clear over clever
Concepts explained plainly, with sources and working code where it matters. No hype, no shilling.
Made to last
Fundamentals that stay useful beyond the current cycle: architecture, security, privacy and governance.
